With School starting back in just a few weeks I thought it a good idea to go over sight words with my daughter that she had learned last school year .The teacher had given her a list two pages long with words . So I got out the list Called Jessey away from Sponge Bob and told her I would like her to read to me the words on the list. She took it looked it over and said you know Mom if you don't know what they are you can look it up on the internet . Then she went on to say as she was walking out of the room "geesh she can't even read first grade words didn't they have school when she was a kid ?"

  1. Yes... she was just confused on what you wanted her to do, thats all.

  2. forget words go teach that kids some manners!

  3. Hahahaha!!

aww she sounds so cute!  (:

  4. no..

  5. Can't say i have, but sure shows what the kids nowadays are learning from.

  6. Haha... no. That would be funny though.

  7. nice story

  8. that made me LOL that was funny.

  9. Nope

  10. lol

    i guess you got a smart/rude kid

  11. No i have never heard a kid say that to me and I think you should go in and talk to her and say, "I know what theese words are but I was just making sure that you know them too." Talk to her and tell her not to say something like that to anyone else again because it is rude and it seems to me like she was calling you stupid, just go talk to her!

  12. I'm sorry for laughing, but why would you do that to her?

If she knew the words at the end of last semester, why wouldn't she still know them?

  13. My older sonisn't in school yet, but he has said some doozies to me too.  And guess where he learned his rudeness?  SpongeBob.  And guess what he wasn't allowed to watch for a month?  SpongeBob.  And I've told him that if he picks up any other rudeness from SB, he'll never watch it again.

I'm sorry if I sound like an old p**p, but I just can't stand it when kids are smart-alecky.

And I don't think you were out of line for wanting your daughter to practice her sight words--kids can lose what they learned if they don't keep up with it.

  14. HA! Kids say the funniest things sometimes. My son never said anything quite like that but he has come close. Sometimes I try to do math with him and quiz him a little bit. The first couple of times I tried to ask him some questions he would answer and say "2 + 2 is 4 mom, you should know that, it's easy".

  15. Hahaha,  sorry I don't mean to laugh, but kids these days are taught at a MUCH faster pace than we were when we were younger.  I'm only 21 and I've had kids say things similar to that to me.  I have a little cousin who was being taught, and learned before half the year was over, to read  when she was in kindergarden.  When I was in school, it was first grade...much fast pace these days.

  16. Well, tell her why you want her to read them: to see if SHE knows them. She could be faking that she didn't understand because she's not sure she could read them all; so she weaseled out of it.

  17. Hahaha, that is to funny. But no its never happened to me.

  18. some people that are about 30 and over didn't even get an education

  19. aww! thats cute!

  20. No i never had that told to me by anyone. But I can say she need a new list of words. LOL............. smart child.

  21. HAHAHAHA LOOOOL... that was really funny =D

  22. hahahahha awww.

    thats adorable.

dont kids just say the cutest things?

    and they dont even knoww.

my mom used to write down all those kind of things that I said when I was younger so she wouldnt forget.

its fun to get it out every once in a while and read it(:

  23. HA HA well no.... i think its a part of to days modern society that the children have easy access to the Internet. Just by googling things kids nowadays are smarter than you think. i get it all of the time. Many complex words are used in schooling and kids just look them up on line. but that is pretty funny for a kid to say that

    Schmidty

  24. I hope when you were done laughing you told her to get back in there and read the words like you told her to.

  25. HAAHAHAHA

    LOLOLOLOLOL

    ...

    no, i haven't

  26. well no, not that exact same thing but have heard my sister same simular things to my mum when she was little!! i think it's funny and so did my mum but some stricter parents might see it a rude! x*x

  27. no but you need to teach your daughter some manners and just let it go since it will be harder each time to control her.

  28. Yeah, it's great, isn't it?Some of the funiest things you'll ever hear will come from the mouths of your children

  29. Sounds like she's quite intelligent. My 4 year old always has smart-alecky things to say all the time

  30. I would skip the sight words....start to let her read books like "To Kill a Mockingbird" and teach her Algebra or something....what grade is she going into?

  31. LOL no I never have but thats HALARIOUSE!!! lol sounds like somethin I would say to my Mum
