would anyone know of any places at all that would give a 17 year old a decnet job for summer. She lives in St. Andrew and cannot decide where to find a job. Any suggestions would help and any personal experiences at somewhere decent from clothing shop to bank , whatever, would be nice also. Please.

  1. If she wants a summer job, she had to go out and look for it!!  She should go to places she'd like to work with her resume and ask them for a job!  The whole process would be a good experience for her.

  2. Summer jobs are a great way to figure out what you want to do with your life. Apply to places that you are interested in (and that have personal long term bragging/career value) and be willing to work for minimal amounts. Research ewvery single company you plan to apply to and come up with some good and sensible sounding reasons to work there.

Be ready to discuss yoru research witht the job interview people. They will be impressed.

Be willing to be detailed and passionate about EVERY company you apply to...that is, dont just send 50 applications if you not going to research all 50 companies.

Most importantly, she needs to go through the whole process BY HER SELF. As an employer, nothing annoys me more than a  'mommy or daddy' being the only ones proactive in hunting for their kids summer job. Sometimes family can pull strings but you must show willingness and true ability to be independent at the first chance you get.  After all, it would be you getting the job, not your parents!
