  1. no

  2. I hate it! The judge will interview you and ask all kinds of personal questions in front of other attorneys and tons of people to see if you qualify for the jury. The average case lasts from 3days to 3months. And what really sucks is that you only get paid 15 dollars a day if your job does not cover jury duty. It varies depending on what state you live in.

  3. lol... My husband was chosen for jury once (he's a large tattooed all over kind of guy... I think that's why the defense picked him) He thought it was pretty fun!

  4. jury nullification.

look it up and research it heavily. become religious about it.

  5. Never been to one lucky

  6. Never called when I lived in Washington. I have been called twice for it since I moved here to California. Be sure to call before you go, because the judge may not need you after all and you have wasted the trip for nothing. Last time I called the day before I was to go, and that was the case.

The first time, though, I showed up at the Contra Costa county courtroom in Martinez. I was excited like you, but after getting through a very long check-in line, we waited for about two hours in the rec room before the judge would see us. Bring a book or a newspaper. During which time we saw a very short video on jury duty and spent the rest of the time waiting, watching a grainy image of Oprah or whatever was on-no cable.

We got upstairs when the judge was ready and they split us into several groups. The judge then gave us some lecture about serving on the grand jury and heard everybody's objections as to why they would not be able to serve. He did not dismiss a single soul. Then about 45 minutes later he finally got down to the selection process.

The first question he asks is, "Is there anybody here who has been here less than a year?" I timidly raised my hand since I had only been in the state eight months by that time. I was hoping he didn't see me because I was sitting behind some object and raised my hand but kept it low, but he spotted me anyway, and promptly excused me!

I spent about 30 minutes checking out, and it was pretty much a wasted day.

I would have liked to have been picked for the grand jury! I would have had a lot to contribute and the case was over some business dispute involving fraud, always a hot topic with accountants!!!!

  7. I have sat on a civil and on a criminal jury.  Fascinating experience.

  8. Yes. It's a pain in the ***! In other countries it's a voluntary endeavor and in the United States it's mandatory which I find ridiculous. Ask me to serve as a jury member and I'll gladly do so. Order me to serve and I have a problem with that! So much for being a so called "free society"......................

  9. nope and never will

  10. i had jury duty one day sat in a room half a day didn't get called to be on a jury all day. there were about 30 of us in a room only 12 were called but they never got to the courtroom ended up in a pleabargin for the case

  11. I had it once, but got out of it because the lawyer never showed or something like that. (thank god)

  12. i've never done it, but i think it would be cool!....... well maybe not i guess its all about what the case is!
