I've gotten messages telling me that someone is trying to send a text to my home phone...how can that happen? Any weird fees associated with this? (Charter Communications)

  1. hi first of all i would like to tell u it helps a gr8 deal for us if u display ur location country.......

    to answer ur question,

there are many countries where texting a landline phone is possible.

for instance in uk if u were to text a landline phone the receiver will automatically receive a verbal message of what u text.

this is a gr8 service but unfortunately not available in many countries.

    Glad to help

  2. You can get land phones that can send text messages. Without them you cant send or recieve them.  I dont think you will get charged. But the person sending them probably will get charged.

  3. yes!!

first, you gotta have a phone that supports text/data...! There are phones like that our there, but the average person don't have them!

now, if you have VoIP....there you can send .wave.files ( messages via your email) and also record them onto the iPot or any MP3 player! I have that with my VoIP provider for free.....its part of there features...!

  4. Well this would probably depend on your phone carrier/phone company.  Mine for example, Telus, offers this.  Someone with a cellphone texts (just as you would text another cell phone) a landline phone number, the text then gets translated into a verbal message by a computer, the landline phone rings and receives a message saying there is a message waiting for them and to push 1  (or whatever) to hear it - the message is then read to you.  You can reply to it as well but I've never done this.

I do not know how the charges work, sorry.
