  1. do you mean caines? as in the film festival?

  2. Caen is a busy city with lots of shops and restaurants on the outskirts is the ferry port to the UK

  3. It is an ancient city of Normandy and the burial place of William the Conqueror (the Duke of Normandy who conquered England in 1066). These days its a modestly sized city with a population of about 115,000.

Its about two hours from Paris and a few km from the English channel.

You'll enjoy the cider for which Normandy is famous and  Calvados, which distilled from hard cider. (What is known as applejack in the states).

Here's the website maintained by the city: http://www.ville-caen.fr/GB/index.html

  4. Largest city in Normandy, close to the region of Brittany.

The city was bombed heavily during WWII but there are some old buildings that did survive. Many lovely vilages to explore in the region and of course the Mont Saint Michel which is not to be missed (off season)

You can also go and see all the V day beaches alongside the coast and discover as R suggests the cider and amazing cheese (best in the whole of France in my opinion).

You can jump on a TER train or TGV and be in Paris in no time for the day. Humid I am not sure what you mean, yes it does rain there but no more than in the UK or Northen part of France.
