when my 2 year old retriever was a puppy, we took her and our 4 year old retriever onto the beach. they were playing, then after a while a bull mastiff came upto my puppy and started sniffing her, so she started running away and it was chasing her. she sat down and it came over so she made a whining noise and smacked it on its nose with her paw, and it ended up running away.

anything like this ever happen near you

  1. "running away" or just running away?  Sounds like the oterdog was not interested in her expecially if she hit him on the nose.

  2. Yes depends on circumstances for example the older dog may be cowed and afraid of it's owners reaction for instance

  3. I've had one like it. A cat on my street was chasing a rat across the car park, chased it into some bush's, had a snuffle around in the bush's then turned round and ran off with the rat chasing her. Very odd but kind cute.

We live opposite a railway that's where the rat came from btw lol

  4. Nope

  5. In your case the bull mastiff was playing with your puppy and when he saw that your puppy is not happy he left because he don't want to be obliged to harm him.

Big dog attacks very small dog but never a puppy.

  6. A few years ago, I took my dog Boomer (a 150 pound Bullmastiff) camping.  He was in the woods doing his business when he came darting towards us cowering!  We all got nervous because we thought it may have been a bear, but a POODLE came running out after him!  It was one of the campers at the sites dog!!  It was very funny, but I was a little bit embarrassed that this 2 pound dog chased away my 150 pound dog!!

  7. My friends Pug scares my Great Dane.

But he's a big wimp and pretty much everything scares him anyways.

  8. yes. Puppies with fiercer demeanor then the older dogs sometimes scare them off. dog sitit this one very independent poodle who always takes over my house when she comes to stay. Along with my poodle, there was also a larggolden doodlele staying at our house already. Thgolden doodlele growled at her, then she barked and quited down this huge dog, four times her size. Size doesn't always matter, not as much as dominance.

  9. aww lol funny story. nope, never happened to me.
