Ever met somebody that turns everything into a competition?

Question

I have a relative and when we are having a normal conversation about clothes shops etc they turn the topic onto themselves and start talking about how their clothes are better than everybody else's etc.

Have you met people like this? They divert topics and conversations onto themselves and turn something innocent into a competition?

Also she gets stuck up about clothes shops but I replied that some people like different clothes and they might not be to her taste but if that's what they like they are paying for it.

The funny thing is her clothes are baggy and not stylish and she is over

exaggerating how great they are.

Why do people do this?

There are many people out there who do that.These people are self absorbed, and really don't care what your even talking about..They use ANY conversation to promote themselves..Its very irritating and most times,,they do it because they are trying to make you believe they are more knowledgeable about" whatever" in the persons eyes, to whom their speaking .. You will never change them,,and its not worth your time to try..The biggest thing about this is,be glad your not like them,,and try to avoid most conversations with them that begs a response..Everything they do is to reassure themselves,,(because down deep they are unsure of themselves),and build their own self confidence..Very insecure people !!              SOLOMON

lol that sounds like me however i dont think that friendly competition is bad only when you insist i have hundred es of friends that sound the same and i just shut up when they jabber jabber on CZ they soon realise that they talking to air..

I bet i know some who is worse than your relative.  Infact i probably know lots of people worse than they are without even trying.  I in realty know the most competitve person ever and i should get a gold medal.

idont know, maybe she just wants to be the centre of attention.

I know some people that are abit like this. Very annoying.
