Question:

Ever realised you were dreaming?

It hasn't happened often, but I can remember vividly the times that it has. For whatever reason, in the past whilst I've been asleep dreaming, I've actually REALISED that I'm dreaming.

If it's a nightmare I'm having, I'm then able to rub my eyes until I wake up (don't ask me how the h**l that works, it just has for as long as I can remember). Other times, if I'm having a good dream, I'll try to stay asleep so I can control the events that take place (though this rarely works, as my eyes usually end up opening anyway and the dream ends).

How often has this happened to you?

  1. It is called Lucid dreaming...

I used to have dreams like this once a week or so... it has died down a bit lately.

lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that he or she is dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream. When the dreamer is lucid, he or she can actively participate in the dream environment without any of the inhibitions or limitations that otherwise would feel natural to persons who incorrectly believe they are in the "real" waking world. Lucid dreams can be extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream.
