  1. People in the USA are prejudiced against eating horse meat.

Here in Europe (especially Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy etc.) horse meat is quite common in restaurants and supermarkets.

Wikipedia says: "Horse meat has a slightly sweet taste reminiscent of a combination of beef and venison. Meat from younger horses tends to be lighter in color while older horses produce richer color and flavor, as with most mammals. Horse meat can be used to replace beef, pork, mutton, and any other meat in virtually any recipe.

Those preparing sandwiches or cold meals with horse meat usually use it smoked and salted. Horse meat forms an ingredient in several traditional recipes of salami."

  2. Never have but I would. I assume it's not so good or we would already be eating more of it.

  3. why would you eat that. horses aren't made for eating. they are made for riding.

  4. Ew! No I never have and I never will!

I've always thought the purpose of horses was for horse-riding and maybe for companionship...not for eating! O.o

  5. SO NASTY DON'T EAT THAT EWWW

  6. Yes. Very much like venison in fact, though not quite so gamey. I've also had dog and cat. The place was the floating restaurants in Kowloon, Hong Kong, China. I also had several types of lizard and eel. The eel was butchered live at the table and the "most honored guest" (designated by all at the table) was presented with and was expected to eat, the still beating heart of the eel. When they skinned the eel, blood droplets splattered everywhere. This was 20 years ago on my last deployment overseas while in the Navy. I have no idea if they are still serving what they called an exotic menu in Kowloon these days. Disgusting? Not really, but the blood drops on my clothes from the eel was a bit much. What one person considers disgusting is another's prized delicacy. I wonder if the people who called this disgusting also believe that the only way meat comes is in a see-through package...
