  1. Lots of people have done it, sometimes with some success, sometimes not.  I've seen plenty of shredded, blown out tires in my career where someone had tried this.

Plugging a tire anywhere is not approved by any tire manufacturer as a proper repair on a passenger radial tire and will automatically void the tire warranty.  Sidewalls are not repairable at all and any attempt to do so is entirely at your own risk.

Remember that your tires are the #1 piece of safety equipment on your vehicle - not someplace to go cheap.

  2. buy a new tie. safer.

  3. There is a reason why tire shops will not patch a hole in the sidewall. IT IS DANGEROUS AND DOESN'T WORK! Just stop being so cheap and buy a new tire!

there is no method to patch a sidewall damage.

  4. It is highly NOT recommended to plug a side wall,All of the vehicles weight is supported by the side walls of your tires. If the side walls are compromised  the structural integrity of the tire will not support the total weight and will explode.

  5. I agree with all the above, just something else. Your insurance will also not pay out if they inspect your tyre and see it being plugged. Apparently in South Africa they are so strict that they do not even pay out if you plug the tread. It is recommended to buy a secondhand tyre of the same type and put it on untill you have enough money for new ones.

    All the best.

  6. i did,,,then when it didnt work i put in a tube...

  7. It isn't safe to plug a sidewall on a tire.A sidewall defect means the tire is trashed,go buy a new one.

  8. i guess that you could attempt it bu t*t is not recommended. replace the tire and be happy.

  9. NO!

You should never use a tyre plug in the side wall of a tyre.  Much safer to just buy a new tyre.

  10. If any person ever told you that you can plug a side wall they are dead wrong and and it's unsafe  to start with. tire plugs are only used to plug the thread part and that's it.  For safety reasons, if you plug a side wall it can blow out.
