Everlong in form to intimidate the line-up of the Whitley Stud Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Division I) at Newbury on 20th April

The Class 4 Whitley Stud Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Division I) will get staged at Newbury over a mile, two furlongs and six yards on Friday, 20th April. The purse for the race is set at £4,528 and it will be contested by fifteen three-year-old thoroughbreds.
The only relatively experienced candidate on the lineup is Everlong, Authorized’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Crooked Wood, as all the rest have raced not more than twice.
Nearly half the line-up is racing their career debut today.
Everlong’s career debut was in the Watch German Races Live At German-Tote.Com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 6th August at Newmarket over seven furlongs. She was sent as the 11/2 collective favourite and finished second after getting beat by four lengths
from the winner of the race, Minidress.
Everlong was riding with Jack Mitchell and was soon followed by Mugazala. The other two collective favourites, Candycakes and Maria Letizia, finished fourth and tenth on the field of fourteen.
Her second life time attempt had her entered as the 85/40 favourite of the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes (Division II) on 29th August at Warwick over seven furlongs.
Pickled Pelican won the race while coupled with Liam Jones and was in lead of the final 2 ¼ lengths. Strictly Silver qualified as the runner up while Spoke To Carlo settled into the third slot behind the winner.
Everlong’s last attempt of the previous season was in the Group 2 Barrett Steel May Hill Stakes (Fillies) on 9th September at Doncaster over a mile. She ended sixth in line after the winner, Lyric Of Light. Fallen For You was the 2/1 favourite
runner up of the race.
All the three starts of the career have been at different race courses and even the fourth outing of the career has presented itself on a fourth different venue. The three-year-old will be riding with Jamie Spencer for the first time and should combine all
the racing experience to intimidate today’s entries and finally claim a race.
The only entry to have raced at Newbury is Hunt A Mistress but that too resulted in a miserable failure with a ninth position on the field of seventeen on 22nd October 2011.
Everlong needs to narrowly focus on the chance that she has today and avail it wisely.
