I installed kaepersky internet security 2009 and ever since i dont it, windows has taken about 2 mins to start up. Compared to the 30secs - 1min it used to take.

Why is this?

  1. i hate this bloatware stuff ,norton ultils is even worse .I use AVG and threatfire for my protection

  2. You may have unknowingly configured Kaspersky to scan all, startup items. The solution is to re-configure

  3. if u install any antivirus it will put some delay on start up  I think  but there are many other issues of the settings of the antivirus as well like auto scan at boot up or auto update or ...etc   try to check these plz

another thing is I personally dont like Kaspersky I prefere Norton or

Mcafee even they take longer at boot up

  4. its possible its doing a boot scan durring this time slowing down your bootup.  The only solution would be to diable the bootup scan if you can.  Other posibility is that it is just loading kapersky durring this time and you could avoid this by removing kapersky from your startup group, but then you would have to run it yourself after each time you restart your computer.

  5. Uninstall it and download and install  'PC Tools antivirus'

It works fine, interface is easy to use and it has won awards.

That together with windows firewall and windows defender (which are in XP and Vista), should see you right
