Everton’s South African midfielder, Steven Pienaar is likely to be on his way out of Everton, after his club manager, David Moyes, confirmed that they have accepted a bid for him, but did not name the club.
The deal may prove to be a wise one for Everton as the 28 year old was to be out of contract at the end of the current season. With his contract expired, he would have been able to leave and join any club as a free agent. There are rumours that Pienaar may
be on his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 or Tottenham Hotspurs.
Moyes said: "We have had two offers, and one of those has been accepted... We have allowed his representatives to speak to the other club, but whether it goes through or not I don't know yet".
There are reports suggesting that Pienaar may have already put pen to paper with a big club in Europe.
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti was asked the question if his team was looking to make a bid for the Everton player, but the Italian refused to comment and dodged the question. He did not directly deny it, but hinted that at times agents tend to play the
game of linking players with certain clubs to raise the price tag, and this may be a similar case. He added that Steven Pienaar is a very talented player and would be a great addition to any team- not just in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, but anywhere in Europe. The Chelsea boss
said that Pienaar can be a good option, but, at the moment, his team is looking for someone in the center of defence.
Harry Redknapp, the manager of Tottenham Hotspurs, said that he has not made a bid for the Everton player, and he has a feeling that the midfielder may be heading to Stamford Bridge.
He added that he certainly would be a great buy for any club as he can play on the right as well as on the left, but that, at the moment, the Hotspurs' chairman would not be willing to put in big money to sign a midfielder. Redknapp said that all they can
offer is 2-3 million, and Everton would certainly not be looking to make a deal in that range.
Steven Pienaar came to Everton for just 2 million pounds, back in 2007, from Borussia. He has made quite an impact since joining Toffees and was also named Everton’s player of the year, last season.
However, he has not been able to raise his game to the same level this season. Moyes also admitted that the club did offer him an extension, but he turned it down. So, for now, Everton would be more than happy to get anything they can, as letting a player
go for free at the end of the season would be a big loss.
David Moyes said that if it was up to him, he would not let the player go at all, but, at the end of the day, one can never have a player in the team who does not want to be there. Moyes, once again, confirmed that a bid from a reputable club has been accepted
and Pienaar would be parting ways with the club soon.
