Everton boss David Moyes keen to keep Marouane Fellaini, Michael Owen eager to extend stay at Manchester United

David Moyes determined to keep Marouane Fellaini
Everton boss David Moyes revealed he had opened talks of a new contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295 in an attempt to keep the midfielder at Goodison Park. The 23-year-old has been linked with top European sides and was linked with an Everton exit at the end of
the current campaign.
The Belgian international arrived at Everton from Standard Liege in 2008 for a fee of £15 million and since then has been an important part of Moyes’ squad. In his first season he scored nine goals and was named the Young Player of the Season for the Toffees.
Moyes said while speaking to reporters, “I think talks have started now, even though I've not spoken to Marouane personally about it. He's really important to us, part of the furniture here now, and of course we want him to stay.”
The Toffees boss said he was hopeful about retaining the young midfielder, he continued, “We did it with the likes of (Phil) Jagielka and (Leighton) Baines who are on long-term contracts. We want to keep building on that and obviously Marouane comes into
that category.”
Michael Owen keen to stay at Old Trafford
The 31-year-old Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 revealed he was hoping for a new contract with the Red Devils. The England international will be out of contract at the end of the season and has not had any talks with Sir Alex Ferguson as yet about
a possible contract extension.
Owen has been in a relatively decent form this season and has managed to score 13 goals in 37 appearances for United. While he was eager to face English Premier League rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday, he admitted he was
concerned about his contract.
Owen said while speaking to reporters, “I am not sure about my future yet - my contract expires at the end of this season. I've made no secret that, in an ideal world, I would extend my stay. I would love to play here for longer but I will just wait and
see what the club say.”
Having previously played for sides like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Real Madrid and Newcastle United, Owen arrived at Old Trafford in 2009 on a free transfer. His two year contract with Manchester United came as a surprise, especially since the striker had an injury plagued
career.
He had a good enough start for Manchester United but it was only a matter of time before he picked up an injury and was unavailable for selection. He returned this season and resumed scoring in important fixtures but was once again ruled out with an injury.
Despite his inconsistent fitness, Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed he felt Owen was a key part of his squad for the current season. However, there has been no mention of a contract renewal by the Manchester United boss and the decision of the striker's future
might be decided in the summer.
