Sunderland’s boss, Martin O’Neill admitted his side were outplayed by the Toffees in their Premier League match on Monday, but believed that they could have done better in the second half of the game.
The Black Cats were hammered 4-0 by Everton at Goodison Park, after the Toffees went on to score four goals in the second period.
The 60 year old praised Everton for their remarkable show, pointing out that the home side were utterly dominant in all the departments of the game.
"We were well beaten in the end, well beaten. Everton were physically stronger than us and deserved to win.” He told reporters.
Sunderland were without the services of their main striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 in the game against Everton, who was sidelined after picking up a hamstring injury. However, the Mackems boss refused to make it an excuse for his side’s woeful performance against
the Merseyside team.
"The loss of one or two players shouldn’t affect a squad in the Premier League as much as it does." He added.
The former Aston Villa manager took over the team in December, 2011 and has secured 12 wins for the Black Cats under his management, in 26 games. Currently, his side are at the eleventh spot in the league table, and trail tenth placed Norwich City by a single
point.

"The goals came very, very quickly and they were great goals from their viewpoint but we looked a little bit tired, I must admit.”
Despite the defeat, the former Irish player praised his side for their impressive run of form since he took over the reins of the club. “We’ve got lots of work to do, lots of work. [It's] a big learning curve, particularly for some of the younger lads who have very little experience of this division, it’s a tough old league.”
He went on to say that the major reason behind Everton’s successes this season, is the presence of some seasoned campaigners in their squad, who have been around for quite some time now.
