Everton goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Howard-c35095 believes his side can surprise Manchester United: EPL news
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has warned Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United that his side will take the game to the Red Devils when the two teams go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Saturday, 23rd April.
Howard’s optimism seems misplaced considering the fact that Everton have not won a single match at Old Trafford in more than 19 years. However, the shot-stopper believes that the current crop of players can bring that timer back to zero. The Blues are in the form of their lives at the moment, having hauled themselves up into seventh place in the League standings despite an abysmal start to the season.
Howard, who was once a Manchester United man, claims that Everton have the momentum to pull off an upset. Speaking ahead of the clash, Howard said, “The way we’re going, they (United) won’t take us lightly. It would be massive to go to Old Trafford and get a result because not many teams go there and do it."
He added, "We know we’ve got our work cut out going there and doing it, but we’ve been in great form and although it’ll be hard we’ll give everything. They will take it to us but we feel good about ourselves."
Manchester United are clear favorites to win Saturday’s match, but as Manchester City proved in the FA Cup semi-final, the Red Devils are far from unbeatable.
United recently succumbed to a goalless draw against Newcastle at Tyneside, but they are still six points clear at the summit of the Premier League standings. United midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 was not too worried about the prospect of two dropped points, and claimed that the title was still United’s to lose.
Speaking on the upcoming match against Everton, Carrick said, “We've got to bounce back against Everton. It is a big game for us. We're still in a good position and we have tough games ahead."
Manchester United are currently leading the League table with 70 points. However, the Red Devils still have to face both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Arsenal in their final five games of the season, and anything can still happen in the race for the Premier League title.
