David Moyes confirms Marouane Fellaini out for the season
Reports reveal Everton midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295 has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old midfielder is set to undergo surgery on Monday after aggravating his existing injury in the English Premier League
clash against Sunderland over the weekend. Fellaini was then unable to feature in the FA Cup fifth round against Reading and the Toffees lost the match 1-0.
Fellaini suffered a similar injury last season, because of which his previous season ended prematurely as well. This will be frustrating for both, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international and the Everton boss David Moyes. Moyes confirmed he had lost one of his key
players for the remainder of the season, the Scot said while speaking to reporters, “Marouane is going to be out for the season now; he will have an operation on Monday.”
Fellaini arrived at Goodison Park in 2008 for a fee of £15 million and didn’t take long to cement his place in the first team. However, he spent six months on the sidelines after undergoing an ankle operation at the start of 2010. He would have hoped
to remain consistent this season but the upcoming surgery confirms another lengthy spell on the sidelines as the end of the season approaches.
The Everton boss also confirmed the absence of Tim Cahill, who picked up a foot injury, for a few weeks. He said, “Everybody who has watched us will tell you he has been a key player for us and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Cahill-c35085 will probably miss two or three weeks as well.”
The injury of these two key players comes at a crucial time when Everton are struggling and trying to reach the top half of the Premier League table.
Steve Bruce hopeful Michael Turner to return this season
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce revealed he was hopeful defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Turner-c25393 would recover and return for the Black Cats this season. He spoke out after speculation that the 27-year-old might not play again this season, or what’s left of
it anyway. Turner has been missing for some months now, having played his last match in December against Everton.
The defender was reported to have visited a specialist sometime last week after he complained of pain in his knee during training. That was an indication the player had suffered a setback and it was whispered his season was as good as over. However,
according to the medical team at Sunderland, the player has been given the go ahead to resume regular training.
The Black Cats boss was confident Turner would return to see Sunderland through to the end of the current season.
He said while speaking to reporters, “We have seen a specialist and the one thing he's got to do now is get his thigh muscles stronger. It's still disappointing for Michael, but we are still hoping he will be back some time in the coming weeks.”
