Everton FC have signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 on a four year deal from Tottenham Hotspur.
The South African International was heavily linked to making a return to Goodison Park, keeping in view his successful loan spell with the Toffees in the preceding campaign and his surplus status at White Hart Lane.
Consequent to talks between the two sides over the last couple of weeks, the North London club finally agreed to sell the player to Everton for an estimated 4.5 million pounds transfer fee.
Now that the midfielder’s transfer is finally completed, it will be his third spell with the Toffees during his career. Earlier, the 30-year old was signed by Everton during the 2007/08 campaign from Borussia Dortmund, and re-arrived at Goodison Park on
a six month loan deal in January 2012.
As a result of his noticeable impact last season, which saw him score 4 goals in just 14 appearances, it was no hidden secret that the Merseyside club were keen on acquiring his permanent services.
Nevertheless, following the completion of his move, Pienaar revealed he was confident that his proposed return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 would go ahead without any hitch, and expressed his excitement on being a part of the Toffees set up once again.
He told the club’s official website, “I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager
how I felt and I am happy now it is all done.”
Everton’s seventh place finish during the 2011/12 campaign has been attributed by many to the arrivals of the Croatian striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906 and Pienaar after Christmas. Even though the attacking midfielder took part in only half of the season for the
Toffees, he picked up the highest number of assists (6 in total) and his tally of 4 Premier League goals was his best for the club out of his five seasons with the Merseyside team.
