The Barclays Premier League is one match closer to its conclusion and Saturday threw up more than its fair share of surprises as Arsenal were held at the Britannia Stadium.
There are only a handful of matches left to play in the Barclays Premier League and that thought seems to have struck home for a number of sides as they put in a number of surprising performances while the pressure seems to be too much for others.
Everton v Fulham
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes will be hoping to end the season above their local rivals, Liverpool, come the end of the season and his side took a major step towards achieving that by thrashing Fulham at Goodison Park.
Fulham had ambitions of finishing above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 as well, yet those dreams were dealt a serious wakeup call as Everton managed to hammer four goals past their hapless defence.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295 doubled the Blue’s advantage 9 minutes later when his effort found the back of Fulham’s net.
Jelavic continued to impress throughout the first half and got his due reward when he scored his second goal of the match on 40 minutes. That was it for the first half, yet Everton put the game to bed in the 60th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Cahill-c35085 beat Mark
Schwarzer to make it 4 – 0.
The result means that Everton stay in 7th Place with a two point lead over Liverpool. Will they be able to hold on to that position with only three matches to go? Only time will tell.
Final Score: EVE 4 – 0 FUL
Stoke City v http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429
The Britannia Stadium is no walk in the park, a fact that Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal would have been well aware of. Parking the bus is a Stoke City specialty and they are an extremely difficult side to break down.
The Gunners needed a win to cement themselves in third place but it was not to be as the home side lived up to their billing as being near unbeatable at home.
