Everton to keep Sylvai Distin, Sunderland in talks with Malbranque, while Gael Clichy not ready to commit to Arsenal
David Moyes keen to keep Sylvain Distin
Everton boss, David Moyes revealed he planned to hold talks with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Distin-c34430 regarding his future, in an attempt to get the influential defender to commit him future with the club. The 33-year-old has been a regular at Goodison Park ever since he arrived
in the summer of 2009 from Portsmouth.
Distin has managed to remain free of injury and has consistently performed for Everton during his time at the club, which explains why Moyes is keen to renew the Frenchman’s contract. The Toffees’ boss revealed he had great respect for the player, his attitude
and commitment.
Moyes said while speaking to reporters, “It is something we will look at in the summer. Sylvain has been great for us and the change after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joleon-Lescott-c18941 left has been relatively seamless. He's played all the games, trains all the time and that is a big
thing. He takes a lot of pride in that and rightly so.”
Sunderland in talks with Steed Malbranque
Sunderland are reportedly in talks with midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steed-Malbranque-c33957 over a new contract which will aim to keep the player at the Stadium of Light possibly until the end of his career. Arriving in 2008 from Tottenham Hotspur, Malbranque has made some 100
appearances for the Black Cats, 29 of those coming under boss Steve Bruce this season.
He has undoubtedly been the most consistent player for Sunderland, which is why he is being rewarded with a new contract. Sunderland Chairman, Niall Quinn revealed the 31-year-old was very important to the club and was a part of their future plans. He said
in an official statement, “We have opened negotiations over a new contract with Steed. He is a great asset to the club.”
Gael Clichy to discuss contract in the summer
Arsenal defender, Gael Clichy has refused to pledge his future to Arsenal, saying he would wait until the end of the season to make a decision about his future. The full back will be out of contract in 2012 and despite being a part of the first team since
his arrival, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international refused to commit to the London side.
Clichy revealed he felt it was too soon to think about his future, he said while speaking to reporters, “Will I prolong my contract? I don't know and I don't think about it. The season is still long. I will have time to think about it in the summer.”
Clichy has made some 250 appearances for Arsenal and while he claimed to be happy under Arsene Wenger, he did not want to make a decision about his future just yet. Clichy insisted he would be prepared to talk about a possible contract extension during the
summer.
