Everton vs. Arsenal: Review and Player Ratings (4th Part)
Continued…
Tim Cahill: 8
The talismanic striker of Everton had the glorious opportunity to open the scoring but headed off target in the staring minutes of the match. He was tidy on the ball and kept making his customary runs in to the penalty area which were
eventually rewarded with a goal to get the hosts back into contention.
Louis Saha: 7
The French striker looked sharp in the early stages but struggled to find room to really threaten the opposition goal.
Arsenal:
Lukasz Fabianski: 8:
The new number one goalie of Arsenal was impressive once again, and was one of the best players on Arsenal side.
The Polish goalkeeper was terrific between the sticks and looked calm throughout the match.
Fabianski pulled off a number of useful save which kept the Toffees at bay. He was unfortunate to concede a last minute goal from Tim Cahill which was not even his fault because his box was full of players.
Nonetheless, it was a wonderful performance for the young goalie.
Bacary Sagna: 8:
The veteran right back of Arsenal shocked the whole world with his tremendous strike in the first half to give team a much needed lead at Goodison Park. It was Sagna’s second goal of his career and it came as a blessing for Arsenal. Moreover,
the French defender also performed well defensively and made some useful interceptions.
Sebastien Squillaci: 6:
The summer signing of Arsene Wenger did not give his best performance against Everton and looked nervy at time. However, the experience centre half did well to keep Pienaar and Saha quite much of the time. He was also shown a yellow card
for his tackle on Saha during the dying stages of the match.
Johan Djourou: 7:
Djourou performed well, high above the expectations. He looked calm and strong throughout the whole match and used his height well to win aerial battles. He also proved vital while defending set-pieces.
Gael Clichy: 6.5:
It was one of the poorest performances from the veteran left back of Arsenal. He was outpaced at times by the likes of Coleman and Pienaar on the left flank.  The experienced left back proved lazy and did not contribute much in the attack
too.
Alexandre Song: 6.5:
Without a doubt, he is one of the revelations at the Emirates this season. Alex Song played well in the midfielder and performed his defensive midfielder duties exceptionally. He was dominant in both attack and defence and helped his team
to start an attack on many occasions.
Jack Wilshere: 6:
The young English midfielder failed to impose himself in the play against the very physical opposition. He was dominated by John Heitenga, who did not let him to create anything in first half. He was rightly substituted by Arsene Wenger
after the first half and Denilson replaced him.
Cesc Fabregas: 7:
Cesc Fabregas was guilty of some poor passes and challenges but overall had a strong game in which he led from the front. He was always dangerous near goal and finished calmly to give his team their deserved second goal.
Samir Nasri: 8.5:
He was without a doubt a stand-out performer for Arsenal. The young French prodigy constantly tormented the opposition’s defence with his surging run from the right flank. Although, he failed to engrave his name on the score sheet, but
performed outstandingly.
Andrei Arshavin: 6.5:
The veteran left winger of Arsenal was once again lazy on the ball but contributed greatly in Arsenal with his incisive passes.
Marouane Chamakh: 6.5:
It was a decent performance from the Moroccan striker. Chamakh had to work tirelessly in the attack. He also assisted his skipper, Cesc Fabregas, for the second Arsenal goal. Moreover, Chamakh also missed an easy chance to find the score
sheet and kill the game but was an assuring presence in defending set pieces.
