Everton’s Leon Osman out for six weeks
Everton manager David Moyes will be without midfielder Leon Osman for up to six weeks.
The attacking midfielder picked up an ankle injury in Everton’s 2-0 win against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last Sunday, 17 October.
"Leon Osman has a bad ankle injury, which will keep him out for four to six weeks, which is a real blow."
Osman is now likely to miss five Premier League games, including this weekend’s visit to Tottenham Hotspur and matches against Stoke City, Blackpool, Bolton and Arsenal.
The Everton player will look to return to action against Sunderland on the 22 November.
Moyes hopes that the injury list at Goodison Park does not grow any longer. Last season, Everton struggled after their squad was depleted for much of the season with long-term injuries.
The Everton manager is concerned that a similar situation will develop this season. Moyes has already been forced to play young right back Seamus Coleman in midfield due to the number of injuries to his senior players.
Michael Arteta also picked up an injury in the Liverpool game, making him a doubtful for the Spurs game.
Everton has an alarming number of forwards injured up front. Louis Saha and Victor Anichebe have long-term injuries, while attacking midfielders Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar are also out.
"There's no getting away from it, we have another bad set of injuries like we had last year...Hopefully they will not be as bad as that, in terms of the length of time the players will be missing for."
Everton has had a poor run of form after a bad start to the season. Their win against Liverpool moved them up to 11th place in the league, and Moyes hopes that his side can improve further when some of his star players return.
