Everton's Mikel Arteta says players are desperate to start winning
Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed that he and his teammates are determined to get back to their winning ways after failing to win any of their English Premier League games this season.
The club is sitting at the bottom of the table, having earned just three points from draws with Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham, despite many pundits tipping them to be pushing for a place in the top four and a UEFA Champions League
qualification spot.
Although there is still plenty of time between now and the end of the season to achieve such a feat, Everton is already well behind the pace-setters. But Arteta believes that everyone at the club is working hard to stop the rot and pick up that elusive first
win.
Arteta told the Liverpool Echo, “You try to do everything you can to get better. Every single detail at the moment is really important, so that's what we're working on. It's very frustrating to see yourself in that situation and I don't believe
that we deserve to be where we are at the moment, but that's football sometimes, so we need to keep doing things right, and keep improving on what we've been doing really well."
Arteta added that the side should have beaten Fulham in their last EPL match, but they could not find a winner.
“We were disappointed after the Fulham game; I think we should have won the game. We controlled it really well, and we kept a clean [sheet] which was the first time this season, so hopefully we can build from there and get the three points on Saturday."
Everton will have another chance pick up their first win of the campaign when they face Birmingham City this weekend.
