This is a strange problem that has happened to every Headphone or Earphone I have ever bought or used. After a while, the right earphone stops working. This has happened as long as I can remember to every headphone I've had and ALWAYS only to the right earphone, the left one works perfectly fine.

I gone through a lot of different brands, from Bose to Sony, but after a little more than say, 2-4 months, this happens, and its driving me crazy..and I end up spending a lot on headphones. Does anyone have a possible explanation for this ? Thanks.

  1. I have the same problem, and am not an expert.

Although you probably test your headphones in other products, are you generally using them in the same player? Check the balance and, if possible, rotate what you listen to. I always had this happen until I switched music players (not to solve this problem: my family bought me a better one - that didn't require duct tape - for Christmas).

Another possibility: how are you storing/transporting your headphones? What you are doing may be putting undue wear-and-tear on one particular side. i.e. my left headphone cover always gets torn in my bag.

This is not to say it is not the headphones, or that quality has not gone down, but if you have tried many brands at a variety of price points, you may have eliminated that factor and need to check out others.
