  1. NOT every car has a governor.

  2. Most cars do NOT have a governor.

Modern ones may have a "rev limiter" which will control engine overspeed but has no effect on vehicle speed.

    No police cars do.

  3. Yes, and it's NOT a governor, it's a rev limiter. The on-board computer shuts down the fuel injectors when the engine nears redline or a set RPM to help prevent massive internal damages. High performance engines naturally have the rev limiter set higher.

  4. Actually, not every car has a governor. There are plenty of cars that will rev way past red-line and the only rev limiter is the guy with his foot on the gas.

As for police cruisers, it probably just depends on the specific car and how new or old it is. I know my cousin's old LT1 Chevy Caprice was REALLY powerful for a huge car. If it was governed, you would never know it.

  5. ok, so you know the diff between a governor and rev limit now, however, having some real exper with this, The chevy impala's that most local townships are buying also come with a special package for police dept's. But not every town or city buys these options. It allows faster pickup, in some cases towing or pushing pakages, higher amp alt's ect.

  6. Every car DOES NOT have a governor.  Modern engine have REV LIMTERS, to prevent damage.  Governors are used to limit SPEED.  Cop cars DO NOT have governors, but the engines do have REV LIMITERS for the same reason.

Your use of tenses needs a little sharpening.
