Every letter and package I receive in the mail is tampered with, what can I do?

Call the post office right away. Its a federal offense to tamper with someones mail. I live in an apt building and i opened my mail box one time to find all my mail open! i called the post office and than the police.

Sometimes mail is accidentally opened due to machine malfunctions, but if it is a regular occurence, I would contact the local post office and complain.

Try having your mail held at the Post Office and see if you still have this problem.

I used to work for the US Postal Service.  First thing to do is wait on the mail one day and see if the mail is delivered and already been tampered with or if its been done after delivery.  If it's done prior to delivery you need to notify the postmaster at your local post office.  If it's done post delivery I'd suggest that you put a hold on your mail and pick it up at the post office once a week.

(If it is happening at the post office and the contacting the postmaster doesn't resolve the problem contact the postal inspectors, they *will* resolve the problem in short order.)
