Every time I try to burn a dvd with DVD Shrink or Nero, why does it say that it's looking for a disk when there's already a blank?

It'll say that it's empty and that it needs a DVD-R, etc and the disk IS DVD-R! It's 4.7 GB, 120 min and I think that's the highest you can get a blank DVD for. I bought other kinds to try too but the programs are constantly doing that.

  1. Make sure that you have a DVD player installed and not a CD-ROM. If you have a CD-ROM, it will not recognize the DVD disk which is why it won't detect the DVD.

If you do have a DVD, you probably haven't installed it.

Right click on My Computer and click on Manage then click on Device Manager and make sure you see that the DVD player is installed.

If it isn't, go to the Control Panel and double click on Add Hardware; the wizard will look for anything that needs to be installed; follow the steps.
