One day they are in the back, then the next month it is in the middle. The director is always changing things. How can I tell her that we hate this?

  1. I can tell you that I worked in Daycare for a long time and the state told us not to make unnecessary changes.  That it was good to make some changes (like moving around toys in the room to make it more exciting) but that even the changes like new "teachers" could make daycare harder for most kids.  Depending on your child's age he should have some stability.  Even in schools for the first 4 grades they don't switch around like that because they know that children need time to adjust.  I would talk to the director and find out why they keep changing things around like that and let her know that it is affecting your child and you are worried about that.  Stability and structure are important.

  2. I will say this with as much kindness as I can - It is not about you; it is about what is best for your son - probably responding to the identified needs of your child.

In this life your child will grow up into a world where accepting change is a natural part of life.  He is a toddler - he does not mind, it is all very exciting and interesting and new.  However, if you were to change his bedroom around, or move where he has his meals at home around, or where he has a bath - then you would have a problem.

Stop fretting - you are only upsetting yourself unnecessarily.

  3. My guess is that the Director is trying to save money by combining classes and not calling subs. This is an indicator of a poor quality program. Some change is inevitable, particularly in the Fall when enrollment tends to change the most, but this kind of moving around should not be happening on a regular basis. I'd think seriously about looking for another program.
