The sound pattern is typically the same. It sounds like a high pitched galloping, like horses galloping. Da-dita-da-dita-da-dita-da.

Why does this happen? Are cell phone &/or speaker companies doing anything to solve this problem? I have turn my computer speakers off when I get a call or make a call.

Last night I tiredly put my phone atop my alarm clock. I was woken up two hours later by the statically galloping sound triggered by my cell phone, through my alarms speakers.

It's just so strange.

  2. This is called gsm buzz. The signal that your phone makes or receive is sensitive to any type of speakers. Thus making the buzzing noise. Any phone will make this sound when placed next to speakers.

  3. because of the electric currents that are going through the machines... they do that if your around computer speakers or if you put up to a radio or even a home phone, just something that makes them do that...something to do with signals or something yes its very weird...

  4. It is called GSM buzz. It is RF (radio frequency) interference that occurs when cellphones try to communicate with cell towers. This RF is injected into speakers that are not very well shielded. It it only a problem with ATT, Tmobile, and Nextel phones. They are the only ones that use the GSM network, ATT calls it Edge or 2g (2nd generation) network. ATT has solved this problem with their 3g network. Not many phone users have upgraded to 3g. There are products out there that will help you eliminate this noise. The best one is an anti-static bag. Simply place you phone on top of it and the RF is diffused. No more buzzing. If you dont have access to an anti-static bag you can find one at http://www.stopthebuzzin.com
