Every time i put a CD in my CD drive it doesn't show that its there in My Computer ..help???

Go to device manager, expand dvd/cd-rom drives, then right click on your drive and go to uninstall. When it uninstalls restart your computer. If that doesn't help then try a different disk. To learn Windows os secrets go to my profile.

Maybe it is time to clean your disk drive. I wouldn't suggest changing it even if it was 100 years old. These things happen mostly due to dust getting caught on the laser eye of the drive. You could try a lens cleaner CD. Following is a product of this sort available on Amazon:

If it has worked all this time before hand and no software changes have occurred on your system that you know of (IE installing a new program) then chances are its your drive. Pick up a DVD burner off newegg.com for like $30.... Best way to go i would say :)

unfortunately with a lot of CD Rom drives.... once tey stop working there really is no fixing. sometimes driver reinstall do work but that is if luck is REALLY on your side.

if your cd drive is old most likely it will not read cd-r. if not, then you will need to replace your cd drive.

Go to computer and check to see if the disk drive is still there, if not simply restart your computer or if your running vista click refresh button.

The problem your causing is your ejecting disks before they have loaded, this is when your prompt 'Disk is still in use'

Always goto computer to eject the disk and check to see if your disk drive safely restores

Had that problem and it's a pain in the a**. If you've tried re-installing all of the drivers and that hasn't helped get a new disc drive. They're not that expensive.
