Question:

Every time i start my pc it says out of range?

i have vista and on the desktop i right clicked on personalized and onto display settings slided the resolution bar and clicked apply, then it went to a black screen and it sed "out of range"

now i have to start up in "safe mode with networking"

it tryed adjusting it while in safe mode

i tryed adjusting the settings on the actual moniter (the buttons)

please help

  1. Usually you get a dialog asking if the resolution looks okay, and if you dont hit yes within 10 seconds or so it will revert back to the old resolution. you probably hit just the right combination of keys to make it hit the "okay" button.  

    One way to reset this is to uninstall your video card drivers in safe mode, then boot up in normal mode.


  2. you have set it outside the safe range of your Monitor. Unless you can set it to 640 x 480 in safe mode, then re-start and re-set it to a SENSIBLE setting you have a real problem. Try this trick first. NEVER change it without testing that the setting works first.
