Every victory is special: New York Giants’ quarterback, Eli Manning – NFL News Update
The Super Bowl XLVI Most Valuable Player (MVP) and New York Giants’ quarterback, Eli Manning, has said that every victory is special to him.
After leading his team to its second Super Bowl victory in five seasons and earning the Super Bowl MVP status for the second time, Manning said that every championship victory brings a joy, which is peculiar and cannot be compared.
In his eight-year career, Manning has played two Super Bowls and has won both.
In the 2007-2008 season of the National Football League (NFL), Giants won the Super Bowl XLII against New England Patriots, 17-14.
Manning got his first MVP after completing 19 passes of 34 attempts for 255 yards. He sent two touchdowns and one interception.
The highlight of the match was his game-winning touchdown, sent with just 35 seconds left on the clock.
This time around, when the opponents were leading in a similar scenario, Manning was once again fabulous, in fact much more than that.
In the Super Bowl XLVI matchup, he completed 30 of 40 attempted passes for 296 yards and sent one touchdown.
When asked about how he felt about the two victories and which one was more special, Manning treated both the victories equally.
He said:
“A championship is a championship. Each one is special. Each one has special moments during the season and, obviously, different teammates.”
The quarterback added:
“This year, I am just happy for a number of guys getting a championship, whether it’s rookies, whether it’s offensive players.”
Manning asserted that he was not the only one who was responsible for this triumph.
He mentioned the contribution from other players and the coaching staff in working efficiently throughout the season and said that he was happy for playing such a huge role in the victory.
He remarked:
“I am happy for a number of guys on this team. I know that they are excited, and that’s why you play.”
He added:
“To give them that opportunity for these next five or six months, we can say, ‘Hey, we are the best. We are the champs.’ That’s a pretty nice feeling.”
Manning has certainly done his job and provided the opportunity to his players, coaching staff and the whole organisation to call themselves champions. Indeed it’s a special achievement.
