  1. In my opinion the air filter is the most under-rated piece of kit on your bike. If your racing (and this is the racing section.) You should either change or clean your filter every race. the simple fact is, to burn fuel you need air (clean air).  I have seen people strip a bike down to see why its not running right when all that was required was to replace the air filter.

as for the reserve. its usually just a case of turning the fuel tap round. your better not using the reserve as it just draws the gunk and rubbish from your fuel tank into the system. keep the bike topped up instead.

  2. Depends on what conditions you are riding in. If it is extremely dusty all the time then I would say check it every 3 weeks or so. Just check it periodically and if you see that it is dirty, clean it (if you have a re-usable filter) and if you do clean it, remember to add the filter oil onto it (if required).  As far as the reserve goes, what you are looking for is a device called a "petcock" and I am not certain where they are on a 07 ninja, look for a dial that says "on, off, res" on it. It should be located somewhere near your gas tank.
