Question:

Everybody makes mistakes...?

Right?

My 16 year old cousin (I'm 19) was driving with her mom in the front seat and me in the back seat. She has had her permit for about 6 months and is still learning.

Anyway she messed up and didn't check her blind spot when she attempted to change lanes. So a lady driving a car had to swerve into another lane. My cousin realized what she did but we were telling to stay calm and that it was okay. Well the other woman pulled up right beside her cussing, screaming, flipping her off and...threatening to kill her, all this stuff. This went on for minutes on end.

Yeah my cousin screwed up. But honestly, hasn't everyone done something like that? I sure know I have. I've also had it done to me...but I would never act the way that lady did.

So my cousin pulled over and broke down crying and she's still crying. She's really sensitive and says she'll never drive again. I told her to just learn from the experience and ignore how stupid the woman was.

What would you tell her?

  1. I'd say that sometimes you meet people like that in all walks of life.  Just got to ignore it.

However..........if she didn't check her blindspot when changing lanes a serious accident could have occured.  Put it down as a lesson learned and move on.

    Glad no one was hurt.

  2. **** the old lady people aren't perfect and i bet she will rember to check her blind spots no wont she

  3. I would tell her what mistakes i have done while driving and stuff and we all do make mistakes while learning to drive, lol m learning to ride a bike now adays lol and I can get that feeling again ;)

oh and yeah     my bro was the one who used to get taunts from everbone while he was driving and he never cared and he himself used to comentrate on everyones driving and continue taunting every other driver,oh! he did that...   hey! hey!! what are you doin...  n stuff  n all   so dont you worry, and believe me    there are  more crazy mad drivers out there than you can count  lol soo rock onnn

  4. I have been driving thirty years and I still occasionally make mistakes,we are all human we all make mistakes.Best suggestion I have is to purchase spotter mirrors to attach to each outside mirrors,if car has two outside mirrors position the spotter mirrors in the very upper left corner of outside mirrors. They have adhesive on the back that will stick to mirror real well. These spotter mirrors come in different styles and sizes and can be purchased at any auto parts store real cheap.they let you see clearly what is beside you and behind you. Both my daughters cars and my cars have them, cause they had the same problem until I put them on their cars.Good Luck don't let the inconsiderate drivers get you down, just keep on truckin.just try and be a truck driver and have to deal with the four wheelers(cars)

  5. That is considered road rage. Anytime someone does that you should report them. Someday they may actually follow through, and kill someone. Maybe not intentionally, but by causing an accident. Tell your cousin 99% of the public is kind, but there is always that 1% that ruin it for others. I'm sorry this happened to her so soon in her driving experience.

  6. I would add that she needs to "toughen up" because she is going to run into people like this in life

  7. The stupid woman was probably just having a bad day and needed to take it out on someone.  Hopefully she will soon realize that road rage is not the way to go.  She might even be home right now regreting her actions.

I used to be like her (well, maybe not that bad) until I realized that I probably share the immediate road with over 100 people during the course of a day and a couple of times a year I probably make some stupid driving error, so it all evens out.

  8. pay attention while driving and just consider the source don't worry you didn't wreak right!!!

  9. tell her that everyone makes mistakes, and to calm down and that ill be alrite. some drivers that start get nervous on the road and well make mistakes, i almost hit another car for not even looking when changing lanes

  10. well my best friend ross passed his driving test about 6 months ago, then coming back from the Rock Ness Festival a driver in a lorry hit him head on and killed him. The other driver was unharmed.

Tell her to be happy that she is still alive, and who gives a sh*t about what other people say. Better to have your life, trust me.

  11. it does happen to everyone. i'm guilty of doing the same thing. and yeah, people do overreact a bit, alot of people have got some serious road rage! just tell her to relax and don't worry about it. if you get alot of positive responses on here, let her read it so she is assured that it happens to everyone.

  12. Road rage is ugly. I would tell her that out of every 1000 people she meets, 999 of them are guaranteed to be complete and total *******. With that in mind, the 1 out of a 1000 are to be appreciated and the rest won't disappoint.  Seriously though, if she is that sensitive in all aspects of life, she is in for one heck of a bumpy ride.

  13. Tell her not to worry and that even people that have been driving 50 years make mistakes.

She's not expected to be perfect after a few months on the road.

Also tell her this other driver is a total idiot. Some people really over react to minor driving errrors and they need a good slap to sort them out. This other driver sounds like a nutcase that needs to calm down.

The unfortunate thing about the roads is that you have to share them with such fools.

Good luck to your sister, get her back on the road as soon as possible and tell her not to worry.

  14. tell her to calm down.

    just be careful next time.

    don't be upset about it

    forget it happened

  15. I agree with your answer.

The woman's reaction was overkill, obviously, and would intimidate a new driver.

Sounds like your cousin is taking it personally.  Everyone does make mistakes, and she will make many more.  But we can't give up.  Otherwise none of us would get out of bed in the morning!

  16. tell her it's okay, that the lady probably was having a bad day. tell her stuff like that happens all the time. as long as she knows she did not mean it then tell her she has nothing to be worried about. no harm no foul, right? inform her that let this be a lesson. let her learn from experience to become a better driver. then take her out to the movies to help her keep her mind off it. drive her around and show her how you react to situations she might face in the future....

  17. You are right. She shouldn't have acted that way but for future reference you need to have some type of label on the car saying beginner driver or something. I have done the same as she has done but I've also have done the same as the other women has done. Driving is a responsiblity. I regretted that I did what I did but it thought me to becareful so I don't make the same mistake again.
