  1. she's definitely out of line for saying something to you like that. and i thought in school teachers aren't allowed to teach anything based on religion? at least at my school they can't do that. you should definitely report that, because it's extremely disrespectful and rude.

i hope for your sake she gets fired. people need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves when theyre not asked for.

  2. She can't be fired unless what she has done is against the school's rules or against the law.  If you live in a state where GLBT people don't have protected status, then she certainly has the right to say what she thinks.  You may not like it, just as people wouldn't like being told they are disgusting for being ugly or old or fat or whatever, but she has a right to say it.

  3. I agree with the answer which states that she should receive a formal reprimand.  In a public school, her opinions on your sexuality are irrelevant.  She is a professional and needs to separate her personal convictions from her work life.   You should ask your parents to go to the principal.  You should be able to switch classes since she is unable to see past your sexual orientation.  Something to think about: If you are wearing your sexual orientation on sleeve, you may want to tone it down. I'm not suggesting that you go in the closet - rather that being g*y is only one aspect to who you are.  An open display of sexuality, straight or g*y, isn't appropriate in a school setting.

  4. I taught for a little while in a Christian school.  The guidance counsellor took me aside one day and confided her suspicions that one of my grade seven boys was g*y.  She asked to watch for any signs of "g*y" behavior, and tell her immediately.

I said, to her horror, "He's a happy, well-adjusted kid, and one of my best students.  I'll be G********d if I'll squeal on him".

There is a huge connection between learning and self-esteem.

If your teacher is "very Christian" I presume that you mean she is Fundamentalist.  According to her beliefs, g*y people will go to h**l and she therefore has a duty to save you.

I'm "very Christian" too, but not fundamentalist.  I don't believe that g*y people go to h**l just because of being g*y.

She gets paid to teach, not to preach.  Her comments are out of line, but I don't think she deserves to be fired.  Based on your comments (I haven't heard her side of the story), she should be told to stop, and advised that disciplinary action may follow if she does not change.

I was a union officer for 20 years.  The basic principle of employee discipline is to use the minimum appropriate force to change the behavior.  Employee discipline is about changing behaviour, not punishing people--and firing someone is the employee relations equivalent of capital punishment.

I think to solve the problem, you should talk to your parents, and/or the school counselor or principal--and let the system work.

  5. no i dont think she

    should be.

    i mean lots of ppl

    dont agree with that.

    you should have thought

    about what ppl were gonna

think of you and say when

you made the decision of being

    g*y.

  6. Wow I would report that for sure. That borders on harrassment. She has the right to feel the way she feels bvut my goodness her attitude isn't very christian at all!

  7. Please approach your principal about your teacher's comments.  Those comments are uncalled for and violate ethical behavior for a public school educator.

I do not believe she should be fired unless this one of many such comments.  She should receive a letter of reprimand which can begin a process of helping her to see why such comments should not be made.  It also established a record of this in case she continues to make inappropriate comments.  If a patten of behavior does occur then a paper trail makes firing her easier.

  8. Homosexuality is an aberration of Nature.  The facts of biology militate against it, for any basic understanding of the male and female forms show us that they were clearly made for each other, not for themselves.  The facts of procreation, how the only natural way it can be done is by heterosexual means, support this argument as well.  No amount of media barrage, movies, or television programs promoting the lifestyle is going to change this.

Since it is an aberration of Nature, it follows that those who are involved in it are in rebellion against Nature.  Since they are in rebellion against Nature, they are in rebellion against Nature's Creator.

As far as "going to h**l" is concerned, h**l is nothing but a state of existence of a soul in eternal separation from God.  The spiritual life in the next world is nothing but a mirror reflection of how we lived on Earth.  What you did in this life, and to the degree you lived in harmony with God and others, is reflected in a permanent state in the next.  In fact, God does not condemn anyone.  He cannot because He is love itself.  We condemn ourselves.  Faced in the next life with the complete, unvarnished truth about ourselves, we choose our own eternal fates.

As such, at the point of death the unrepentant homosexual cannot get to Heaven.  Having lived a life of rebellion against the natural order, they will suffer for it with separation from it in the next life.  However, personally as a Catholic and a believer in Purgatory I cannot say that all homosexuals will go to h**l.  Some may have lived good enough lives in other areas that they may not be completely condemned.  If they go to Purgatory they will eventually attain Heaven, once they are purged of their sins.  But the big question is this: why risk losing eternal salvation and happiness over anything that is of this world, especially something that is contrary to Nature and the human body?  Thousands of years of religious teaching from numerous theologians of various faiths have taught us that homosexuality is a crime worthy of eternal separation from God.  You are just a teenager.  Are you so sure of yourself that you are willing to risk your soul's eternal happiness and go against the wisdom of so many who have gone before you?  Why do this if there is even the slightest chance of losing this?  What is the benefit?  An earthly relationship that will pass?

Homosexual acts are in fact disgusting.  Nobody who says otherwise is doing you any favors because they aren't telling you the truth.  Notice that I have not, however, called you disgusting.  I have my own sins of the past that I would absolutely call disgusting today.  The problem for homosexuals is that they have such a media barrage today try to push the idea that homosexuality is normal, even to be celebrated, that they can become blind to the reasons of why their actions are wrong.  But Nature will never listen to that barrage, and the consequences of this lifestyle will catch up to you if you do not leave it.

Now to me it seems that what your teacher may have done is simply express this eternal truth in a crude way.  In that she may have been wrong.  But it doesn't mean you shouldn't think seriously about what you are doing.

Oh BTW, I am also a public school teacher.  I wouldn't tell any of my students that happened to be g*y something rude like "You are going to h**l!", but I wouldn't be a false friend to them and hide the truth to comfort their feelings either.

  9. No she shouldn't get fired.

  10. I'm a teacher and I would never say something like that.

First off - I don't agree with her.

Secondly - even if I did agree with her - if I thought what you were doing was wrong, I would have no business commenting on it.

If you're going to a christian school, I'm guessing these type of comments might be a little more acceptable than they would be at a public school.  Either way - it's wrong.

Should she get fired?  I don't think she should lose her job over it, but she should definitely be told she is out of line.
