Thanks in advance!

  1. in my experience the problems are these:

intense bureaucracy--you feel the presence of local and national administration every day in simple transactions

racism--almost exclusively toward those of North African descent

resistance to change--there is such a respect for tradition and Frenchness that sometimes it's hard to modernize

strikes--while this is great because it shows how involved the French are in politics, daily life is often interrupted because of transportation or postal strikes, etc.

These are sort of generally negative things that make day to day living a bit of a challenge sometimes, but there are other things that France does so well...amazing public transportation, affordable education, great healthcare, unparalleled food, a respect for leisure time and vacation, the importance of family and family meals, healthy attitudes about food and body image, an emphasis on being well-read, informed about the world and intelligent, etc.

  2. Thing i hated most was everything closes for lunch 12-1pm except major stores, holidays are worse everything including the transit closes, daily life expenses depends if you have in income from the US or Euro's if from USD yes cuz the dollar is weaker, if income is from there its the same as your daily expenses in the US. Laws arent that different than from the US, except that if your caught doing something your Guilty until proven Innocent, unlike here you innocent until proven guilty. But the french seem to have a quicker temper kinda like some people from NYC.
