  1. Im not completely sure but i actualy heard that he was going to the pirates for jason bay.

  2. he'll stay!he has the option to veto any movement. it said on sportscenter. he's been in the bigs for 10 years, and 5 seasons with the sox.so he'll have the option to disallow any trade

  3. They are not trading Manny anywhere except to a place that can afford to resign him.  It is expected that when Manny goes to free agency, he will get a larger contract than A-Rod's.

    SO-

    The Dodger, Cubs, or Yankess.

My opinion is Manny is staying.

  4. I think at this point it wont matter too much for who, but at same time they wont just take any guy either. Manny has expressed wanting out for a few years, despite their championships, so I think its best they trade him.....and to Yankees!!!!

  5. I think it'll be hard from Manny to go anywhere. Boston is probably the best team in baseball and will be for years to come assuming they can keep most of their big name players. Manny isn't going to want to leave. He is also a very solid hitter when locked in. Overall, he will go into slumps while striking out a bunch and rolling into double plays. However, when it matters, he seems to come through often.

  6. I havent heard anyone say that and they arent going to trade him anyway.

  7. Everything looks worse when you lose two at Fenway to the Yanks.  Manny had one of those moments when he took a couple of days off at an important time.

But, If Lester does what he is so capable of doing we will go far to put this whole episode behind us.  I went into this series expecting to win two.  I can live with one.

Oh, yeah.  We're supposed to be talking about Manny.  He will not be traded because I can't imagine working a trade out with any other team.  This is the last year on his contract , although there is a club option or two.  He would have to approve a trade and would only do so if it came with a new contract.  Then there is the matter of what he would be traded for.  It would take a sizable package with some impact punch to get it done.  The Sox are not like those other eleventh hour traders like the Pirates looking to the future, we have this year to win.

  8. Tampasportsanimal.....: Manny has been in the league for 16 years and 8 with indians, 8 with redsox.....

It seems like the redsox want him to go for his actions.....but honestly it might be a little late! They have to make a quick deal within the next 4 days.

If he is traded i think it is to the Phillies or Mets

    Hamilton for Manny? HA!

  9. Well, the Mets have been reported to need him, because the Mets are looking for a corner outfielder with Ryan Church, gone. Then again, we need a left fielder, too. The Mets would probably give up some prospects. I'm sure the Sox would ask for Jon Niese, or some highly talented prospect. But, if the Sox ask for Fernando Martinez, then the Mets would back out immediately. He's our starting outfielder in 2009.

  10. Manny will stay,  why break up chemistry from a team who is leading the wild card and only 2 games behind the rays?

  11. first of all, if manny goes , sox wont make the playoffs, if it wasnt for him last year ,sox probably wouldnt have won  the division(probably wild card though) but this year too contending teams are right with them, yanks are won win away from being tied in wild card, so watch out. not only are you loosing a huge bat, but the team may be affected,  im a yankees fan SO I WANT THEM TO TRADE HIM.  but the sox wont make the playoffs if they do,  cuz im not convinced about ortiz either (i mean if he gets injured again) THEO EPSTEIN IS THE SECOND BEST GM IN BASEBALLHES A SMART GUY, hes be dumb to trade manny, and if they dont they will have another bad stretch anyway like last year, and when october comes watch for my name (DX) because i will point out that its not how you start its how you finish, baseballs a marathon, not a sprint lets seee how  the sox deal with it, its going to be an exciting night and stretch

  12. Look for teams in contention who need a bat. I would guarantee the Cubs would love to have him. I also look towards Detroit if they can take control of their division. What does Boston really want?

  13. He probably would be traded at some point  (don't forget a few years ago the soxs put him on waviers and NO ONE picked him up...wait i think the giants tried...for the record i'm a giants fan).

Will he be traded this year? I say 50 50 only because he's old..making lots of money and the sox's have shown us in recent years that they aren't afraid to make moves and let players go who are aging EVEN IF they are productive (pedro good example) As much as i don't want to say this..the sox's have the best GM in baseball and the best front office. They are smart baseball people and you can tell they truly love the game..it shows in the moves they make for that team and fan base. They'll -if they do trade him-simply take prospects and a major leaguer (to fill mannys loss) the soxs aren't stupid. A mix of young and old is what they usually have..they aren't stupid enough to keep both Ortiz and Manny for the next 5..h**l even 3 years. Would be keep paying them 20 something million a year even at age 37?...I sure wouldn't..skills will dminish at some point..that's just the law of averages..

i have to say as a giants fan i'm jealous of you bo sox fans.

you have ownership that cares...regardless of the price.

  14. Manny goes because they clearly don't want him because of Manny being Manny. He would be dealt for Teixiera, K-Rod(low chance) He has a no trade clause. he might be dealt to the Mets for Reyes, and two triple A prospects. To the Cubs maybe for Two pitchers and a prospect.Rangers won't give up Hamilton. Red Sox need a bullpen badly. Make a deal for Fuentes. He has the best chance of going to Atlanta for Teixeira and Ohman for Ramirez and Crisp.

  15. Manny Ramirez would absolutely NOT be traded for Josh Hamilton. This is Hamilton's first good year, and his 3rd overall. And if the Rangers were proposed an offer like that, I am sure they would take it. After all, Hamilton is probably using steroroids too, since he has used every other drug out there.
