  1. Uh, no. A mother bird will NOT abondon it's nest or babies if you touch them. That is an urban myth/old wives tale. Not only has this been proven by aviary's and breeders, but I was an adventurous child who constantly raided bird nests and played with the babies when the mothers were away, and they never were abandoned and grew up just fine... look it up for yourself.

Regarding finding baby birds/eggs, actual "birds" (ie wild birds like mockingbirds, cardinals) are a pain in the *** to raise from an egg, they require constant feeding and warmth, its not worth it. If you're totally adamant about raising a bird from an egg, I'd suggest a duck/goose, they are super easy to take care of as a baby and very friendly.

  2. leave them alone. if you touch a bird nest the mother will not take care of them anymore. it takes a specialist to keep baby birds alive in a very delicate environment, and you simply cannot provide this. quit being dumb.

  3. "Everyone elese is finding baby birds and eggs and I can't find any but want to! How do I?"

    You don't.  It's illegal.

All native wild birds, and their nests are protected by federal law in the US and Canada.  You cannot touch them, harm them, or take them home.

Wild baby birds need wild bird parents.  If you care about birds, you will leave them alone to raise their own families.

No one is  permitted to keep any native wild bird as a pet - EVER.

  4. If you find any live birds or eggs DON'T TOUCH THEM!!!! If you touch a baby bird egg the mom will either push it out of the nest or she will abandon it.  IT WILL DIE.  You do not have the right instincts or training to care for a baby bird.  Tell your friends to leave them alone.  You guys are killing them.

  5. They are in trees! And who is everyone?

  6. why would you want baby birds or eggs....if you have them and not the mother they more than likely die ..so probably best thing is to just leave them alone..i used to live in kentucky and we would find eggs on the ground all the time..being kids we would try to take care of em and get them to hatch but not 1 did they need its mom

  7. About 95% of the time the baby birds people are calling "abandoned" are not abandoned at all..their parents are near by caring for them.  People don't know any better and pick them up and take them inside and try to feed them thinking they are helping.  But, in reality they are harming these birds and possibly causing their death.  If you come across a baby bird and it is fully feathered..do NOT touch it..leave it alone.. this is a fledgling that has left the nest on it's own and is being cared for by it's parents.  It is normal for baby birds to leave the nest BEFORE they can fly.  If you find an unfeathered bird..put it back into the nest if you can find it..otherwise get it to an expert at a wildlife rehab.  You should not care for a baby bird on your own under any circumstances..this is illegal.

  8. belive you me its harding rearing up a wild bird i found a homing pigoen this morning and im finding it hard.  its always best to leave baby birds where they belong in case the mummy comes back. you should only help out if the baby bird has been left along time. its always best to ring shelters for birds, which for me i dont have one for my homing pigoen.

ive actually posted a question on here about homing pigeons.
