  1. Philosophy is literally translated from Ancient Greece as the "Love of Wisdom".  In my opinion, almost everybody in today's Western World does NOT love wisdom, because if they did then there would be a majority of enlightened people rather than a majority of ignorant people.

Loving wisdom, to me, means to be passionate & honest about philosophy.  Most people do not devote themselves to "wisdom".  What does "wisdom" even mean?  Well, if anybody claims to be a philosopher, then the least they should do is explain their "love of wisdom"...

    (most people can't)

  2. in a sense yes, but there are some who are way more into it than others. those guys are Philosophers in the truest sense. the others are more appropriately titled Sophists.

everyone has questions - everyone is at least a sophist.

some live for those questions, really love them - those are the philosophers.

  3. Well, yeah, in the way that everyone who's placed one rock atop another is a builder, everyone who drew planes in crayon as a 6 year old is an aerospace engineer and every peruser of playboy is a gynecologist.

  4. Absolutely not! They think on a level deep beneath the ground. That is not philosophy, the love of wisdom. There is no wisdom in blindly following a non-existant god with altruistic beliefs that will never come true. That's the way a child behaves who is dependent on its mother. But that is no excuse for bad parenting.

  5. Yes, they are. People's opinions on anything are rooted in a philosophy, although they might not think of it that way. An example would be whether seat belts should be mandatory. Somebodies  opinion on that would reflect if they thought the individual or the state is mostly responsible for a person's safety.
