The most widely used and addicting drugs known to man are oxygen (also known as O2) and water (AKA H2O). These drugs are very widely available and are used every day. They cause clear thinking, normal bodily function, and help the body to breathe. Sounds good, right? Well, there's a downside. You overdose on water. Many people die from it every year. Oxygen withdrawals can cause a person to be lightheaded and pass out, eventually killing them.

A typical addict will use oxygen every day, and their have been no successful attempts to quit oxygen. The same is true with water addicts.

Many will argue that people cannot live without these drugs, but that's what most addicts to heroin, cocaine, or other illegal drugs will say about their drugs of choice.

If any of you have a solution to this, please tell me now.

  1. I thought food, drink and oxygen weren't technically drugs??

  2. Well your reasoning is fine, apart from one fatal flaw - they are not drugs.

There are solutions as well, many forms of life can be sustained without the presence of either. Microbes have been sent into space, and returned healthy, so even in a void they have survived.

Pure oxygen, btw, is highly toxic.

And in the news recently, a drunk guy died by drinking over 10 litres of water - his kidneys failed, so the water was not removed from his body, and died as a result.

  3. People physically CAN'T go without water and oxygen. It is different

addicts, because if you put them in a desert without the drug, they will survive. Do the same to people "addicted" to water and they won't.

I define things you are addicted to as things you CAN live without, but choose not to, for no valid reason.

  4. a drug is anything other then food and drinks that go into your body and i am not talking soda and twinkies, caffeine is a drug also but not water and air (this can not be a serious question)

  5. On the doctor phil program yesterday they had a guy who died from water intoxication what happened was they had a competition to win a wii console for the person who can drink the most water before going to the toilet this guy drank 3 gallons and died of water intoxication. No lie it really happened and I was shocked too much of anything can be bad for you.

  6. Zero tolerance drug policy!  Oxygen and water need to be banned from schools from this moment on.  How can we expect our children to learn in an environment infested with drugs?  I don't care if it kills them, our schools need to stay free from ALL drugs.

  7. Well we could all become Zombies that would work. Otherwise I think they are good drugs if they can be called that.

  8. I don't think most people would define oxygen or water as drugs.  You might consider them to be substances, and substances can be abused.  So can water and so can oxygen.

    And so can common sense.
