If the Ninja 250r is weak, light enough for beginners, but everyone says don't by a new bike 'cause you'll just drop it... who should buy the Ninja 250r? Is it for skilled riders who want something weaker than they have?

  1. if you have the money, buy new, but you would be better to buy a used 250 and then after you get experience, buy a new bike. remember, motorcycle companys want to sell you a new bike, thats where they get their money!

  2. Everybody doesn't drop their bike when learning. Some do some don't but it's only a myth that everybody does. If you already know how to drive a stick and you can ride a bicycle, you'll be fine. get the bike you want because you have to pay for it and you have to ride it.

People online and people on the road have two totally different perspectives on a lot of issues. Don't make your decision based on Y!A.

I think XYZ should get best answer!

  3. ya gotta start some where ,why not a ninja?

  4. I do not agree that all new riders will drop their bike. It's just my opinion, but of all the new riders I know only one has dropped their bike and that was a 5'4" women that had never been on a bike and purchased an 1100 cruiser as her first ride. The 250R is for beginners or those who just want really good gas mileage and/or low purchase and insurance costs. If you want a new bike, get a new bike. No offense to anyone here, but I would take any advice from this site with a grain of salt. YA has more misinformation regarding motorcycles than any forum I've ever seen. As far as buying a used bike because a new one may get scratched up...WTF. Who wants to buy a S****y looking scratched up used bike anyway? And if you buy a nice looking used bike you will be just as upset if it gets scratched up or dented. If you can even find an '08 Ninja 250R they are as cheap as many used bikes anyway. It is your money so just forget about what anybody here thinks and follow your own instincts.

  5. buy new if possible

the meaning of used or pre owned - someone elses headace

  6. Lots of people just want a new bike and can probably either afford it or are into making payments.

  7. picture this....

you buy a brand new bike, perfect, flawless... you paid full price for it...

then you don't fully put down the kickstand, someone touches it, you forget to put the kickstand down at all, you're working on it and the kick stand folds up... etc etc

now you have a brand new beautifully scratched peice of ****....

used bikes don't look sparkly clean, and they hide the minor imperfections better then the sparkly brand new bikes can....

there's also the resell factor to consider... buy a new bike and use it you have just cut the value in half.... buy a used bike use it for awhile, you can get pretty much all your money back out of it.

  8.   The ninja 250r is a good  bike for baby squids

  9. The Ninja 250 is for people who wouldn't get caught dead on a 500cc scooter...

    Hope that helps...

  10. Absolutely nothing wrong with a 250 ninja as a starter bike. A lot of people never drop their bikes.

  11. the ninja is for the rider that has been riding for a year & just wants a commuter to go to work & back..  its cheap to run & it dosnt look to bad...

  12. Why take the depreciation hit on a new bike? Let someone else take it.

  13. 250s are good for beginners i bought one (new), got bored with it really quick, bought a gsxr600 now i have a 250 w/ 800 miles on it and no want for it. so.....my advice hopefully you got a friend that is brave enough to let you "learn"on his just tooling up and down the street. then buy a used 600cc because 250s don't do much of anything but save gas.

  14. that bike is for short, petite women

guys who ride it might as well just get a scooter

  15. People who say that are probably just jealous because they can't afford a brand new bike. I bought a brand new R1 for my first bike i'd never ever riden on the road and did i drop it??? NO. Any 250cc bike is perfect for beginers and the ninja is a good option because they still have the look of a superbike. If you have the money to buy new than do so and forget what all other losers say who can't hold their bikes up. With new you get warranty and peace of mind that no terd burger has flogged the absolute a$$ end out of it.
