My family moved to the new neighbourhood. My mother is very ill, I wanted to ease her pain and went to Thornton's to borrow a water bed. John Thornton is a factory owner. When I was at his place, his workers started a strike. They broke his gates, and demanded to talk to him. I said that he was a coward - rashly, I admit - and he went outside. He tried to talk to the workers, but they would not listen, and tried to harm him physically. I then ran outside, and tried to protect him by standing between him and the mob. Someone threw a stone at him, but it hit me on the head. Now people believe that I did it because I am in love with John Thornton. It's not the case. I did it because I feel morally responsible for him, because I egged him to go outside. Then, Mr Thornton is well off, and I am rather poor, so it might look as golddigging. What should I do?
