  1. I am starting to show alot with my mare. (very green at shows still) but I haul in with friends at the barn. Find a friend with a truck and no trailer and help each other out....

  2. I dont have a trailer and our truck wouldnt be able to haul one anyways. I just go with buddies at the barn and pitch in gas money for the driver.

  3. You could ask about going to a show with a friend or someone else.

Usually trainers are hauling horses that are in training with them. Don't know if they would have room for your horse or if they are going to the same shows as you are.

  4. my mum drives a land rover defender so its no problem for me but people do hire trailers and boxes but thats mostly for going longer distance.

If it isnt too far, you could hack down there to warm him up but otherwise you will have to hire one and just say its yours!!!

    lol

    good luck and have fun.

  5. Is there no one at your barn that has a truck that you could pay for the day to take your trailer?

And, yes, people do hire people to take them to local shows.  Have you checked at your tack and feed store?  Maybe someone else is interested in going and you've got the trailer and maybe they have the truck?  That would be a good trade off.

I'm sure you will work it out.

  6. I have a truck and a trailer so no I do not have to hire people.

Well since your mom is uncomfortable I guess you have no other choice.

Some people I go to rodeos with have hired people.

  7. well, alot of people dont, at least in my area, that's why we used to go in groups, we had a 2 horse trailer and someone else at the barn had a 4 horse trailer, we'd take our trailers with everyone else's horses to the show.  ask around at a barn if anyone else is going to a show or if you could pay them gas money plus alittle extra for their time. . .

anyway, we trailered in groups and such when we boarded our horses. good luck.

  8. I've not heard of that before, I know some people who go to shows don't have a truck and trailer, but as far as I know they hitch a ride with someone else nearby going to the same show who has a truck and trailer, they don't hire someone to take them.  When I was growing up and did some showing, we used to stop along the way, most shows, and pick up a few other kids' horses.  I didn't think horse transporters did anything but long distances, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask!

  9. I have neither a truck or trailer that would work to transport my horse. haha. Thankfully I have some friends who either come with me and bring their horses, or let me borrow their truck/trailer or both. =]

I have also ridden my horse places as well, nice little warm up and you dont have to go fast , just make sure you leave in time. =] Farthest I have ridden is about 12 miles (but made sure that my horse had a bit of a rest before preforming.)

    Good Luck! =]

  10. i just borrow a friends truck and trailer they at the end i take the horse to her house she has a barn on her property  then the next day i take my horse back
