  1. Hey there,

I was born with Glaucoma.  The general answer for your question is that Yes, when your pressure gets high you begin to notice blurring vision and halos around lights.

From my own expirience, while my glaucoma was controlled until a few years ago, I started seeing halos around lights out of my left eye, this continued for a few years because my eye pressure was always normal when checked.  My vision continued to get haziers until it stayed like that.  If I were to cry or anything like that my vision in my left eye would get so blurry I couldn't see out of it.  When the pressure finally did get noticed it was at 47.

If your having these symptoms you need to get evaluated.  Hope this helped, take it easy.

  2. You should report this to the doctor treating your glaucoma, as it can be a sign of inadequate pressure control or another separate problem.  Waking up with blurry vision indicates that the cornea is probably swelling.  Normally a cellular pump keeps the water level in the cornea steady to maintain full clarity.  The pump has a harder job to do while you sleep because you don't have evaporation helping to do the job.  The pump mechanism can be overwhelmed due to increased pressure from glaucoma, or it can fail on its own due to other problems.  If your blurry vision improves as you are awake this is likely the reason.  Let your doctor know to avoid more serious problems down the line.
