    Go to the Dominican Republic website and look for FAQ's for travelers. You'll find impotant stuff about their laws and/or customs.

Pay for the executive lounge going and coming back, it`s really a lot easier, you get on the flight first and are really looked after. the lounge has free food alcohol, papers etc. Wouldn`t do a long haul unless I did that! It works out a lot cheaper if you have to buy a meal in the airport. Pick your seat on the plane.

    Wear special socks to prevent DVT on flight.

    Book 5* all inclusive, they`re the best.

    Take dollars loads of $1 dollar bills for tipping,you`ll be looked after amazing.

    Book trips etc from the locals not from the travel ref, they rip you off!

    the local trips are al lot cheaper and a far better time is had.

    Apply to the DR embassy for your $10 dollar travel permit, prevents you queueing when you get there.

    Try and learn a little Spanish , the locals love it If you can speak it a little.

    Take instant medicated hand wash to use if your on a trip anywhere, a lot of the stomach upsets are to do with personal hygiene.

    You need a £20 dollar bill to get out of the country so make sure you have some dollars left.

    Take loads of DEET for night time, and you may need malaria tabs, depending where your going?

  7. Two important things to make your trip enjoyable:

    1 - Don't drink the water

    2 - Be courteous and polite with the locals, try to speak a few Spanish words, and show some interest in the local culture.  Dominicans realize that their country depends heavily on tourism, but many perceive tourists as strange and aloof. Making an acquaintance opens many doors.
