  1. Homology - refers to similarities of structures that are derived from a common recent ancestor but not necessarily have same functions. Homology is usually used for monophyletic group of organisms i.e. closely related in the tree of life.

    To explain well

    A bat wing is a homologue of human arm. Note that bat and human are members of Phylum Chordata. Bat uses its wings to fly that is cannot be done by human arm.

    And to identify with Analogy

    Butterfly wings are analogs of bird's wings. Note that butterfly and bird are not closely related organisms.
