I am very serious about being a cop after college and i would like to know how to enter the police academy, what it is like there, and how people get careers after it please. Do most people just become an officer after it?

So you wanna be a mindless foot soldier for the police state..I would say you might wanna study the constitution first because the oath you take will be to protect it...Though it seems most cops forgot that...

My aunt went there. She had her heart set on being a cop. They yelled at you constantly even while you were eating! No privacy!

They say its to keep you aware at all times (be on your toes).

She couldn't handle it and dropped out.

Ya, and than shortly soon there after you will be chipped.Its comming to all government official employment.So make sure you are not a christian and you are ready to submit and conform..

You will have to apply to the department(s) you would like to be hired on at.  The hiring process is fairly extensive, entrance exams, oral board interviews, physical agility testing, psychological evaluations and polygraph examinations are all involved.  If you pass all of these stages of the hiring process then you'll go through the police academy.  Some departments do not require all of those steps.  For example, not all departments require polygraph examinations or psychological evaluations.  If you complete and pass the police academy then you'll go through a probationary period at the department you're hired on at.  Each department is slightly different and your best source of information would be the departments you are interested in working for themselves.

after the academy and sometimes during, you are assigned a station house then put on the street while being paid during your probation period.

Ok once you graduate, you will have to take what is called a civil service test. Once you pass that test you will be put on what is called the eligibility list. That list is then forwarded to all the municipality's. After you are what they call canvased, which is asked to report for an interview, and if hired, you have to go for what is called an agility test. You pass the agility test then move on to the academy.

The academy is daunting but if you can keep focused on your goal your a police officer.
