1. concentrate keep your stream line tight and slightly arch your back so your fingers hit the water first and practice practice practice

  2. I used to have the same problem too, honest ask my mom and my coaches. It was really frustrating. So what you have to do is first do dives from the wall and lean down. Don't focus on diving far just dive with your head first and your arms in a streamline.

  3. not sure what ur real problem is, the diving or the technic issues. soo i cant really help u there.

    get a diving instructer or take swim lessons??

    sorryy =[

  4. head first

  5. You need to use your legs to push off and down more rather than just falling in the pool. I've struggled with my swimming start for a long time because of this, and it has taken me a lot of practice to fix it, but I've finally gotten it.

  6. Keep your chin on your chest, arms in a streamline position, bend over 90 degrees at waist lean out across the water, pick up one of your feet behind you and fall in. Don't break your streamline or lift your head up. I disagree about the pushing off. This is likely to result in the flop because too much of your body surface enters the water at the same time. If you fall in and don't break streamline the hands and head enter before the belly.

  7. well your swimming instructor doesn't sound as if he's much of a help..haha...i'm an instructor too and trust me it takes time and practice. don't be scared of the water, it's not going to hurt you UNLESS you do a bellyflop. aim for a spot and stick with it, keep your chin down, and do whatever it takes to get your head into the water first.

    you'll get better, promise =)

    good luckies

  8. Don't try doing it standing up until you've mastered it at the kneeling level. Without seeing your dive it sounds like you're picking your head up at the last second instead of keeping it tucked to your chest.

    Before you dive in remind yourself of the order your body should be going in the water: fingertips, elbows & head (at the same time), shoulders, hips, knees, toes. You can expand or shrink this list as you need, it's just a way to give yourself some "landmarks" on your body so you can envision the way you're supposed to glide in.

    As for some practical tips, imagine gluing your chin to your chest while you're doing the dive. You can even physically hold something underneath your chin like a sponge, a splash bomb (http://pooltoy.com/splashballs.html ), or even a scrunchie. Anything that's soft and will float.

    Also, try watching your toes. This won't work in a sitting dive position, but it should work in a kneeling dive depending on how you do it. Your toes should be the last thing in the water so you should be able to see them until you're in the water.

    Finally, when you're learning to dive focus on going down and not out. Once you've coordinated the action of going down properly (without bellyflopping), then you can add your legs and try going for more distance. Diving should feel like you're doing a handstand, so if you can do a handstand in a pool you can dive in a pool.

  9. You need to use your legs to push off or you will just fall flat on your face.

  10. you need to lean a little bit over 90 degrees or else youll still belly flop, because i got the advice to go just 90 and it helped but not as much. so lean out over the water a little more then 90 degrees, esp. if your standing up, and keep your chin tucked into your chest, never looking up until your in the water and begin your stroke. if you look up, it will break the streamline and youll still end up with a bellyflop. hope i helped :]

  11. I used to flop all the time! Really try and arch your back when you dive in and picture a hole in the water that you want your entire body to fit through. You also need to push off with your legs a lot so that you can get out farther.
