Evesham hard disk failure

Question

any idea how to get into XP and fix at least temporarily.
I have been getting the SMART hard disk failure imminent message but after resetting BIOS,and no onger getting the message, thought the problem had gone away.
Now PC hangs on bootup on each option taken - last Known good config or start windows normally
