I have purchased a Dell Inspiron 530. Specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8MB L2 cache, 2.4GHz,1066FSB) G0 Stepping

16X DVD+/-RW Drive

3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs

500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100

Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

Lastly, It came with a 350 watt power supply which I upgraded to a Corsair VX450W last night. It fit in perfectly for those wondering if it would go into a Dell Inspiron 530. It also gives 33A to the single 12V rail.

Okay, I plan to purchase either the Evga 8800GT, 8800GT Superclocked, 9600GT, or 9600GT Superclocked. I do not plan to add extra cooling. The Dell comes with 2 fans and the power supply exhausts air out which is nice. Of those 4 cards, would any of them be unsafe in my Dell with stock cooling?

  1. The 8800GT will curb stomp the 9600GT; it's as simple as that. The 9600GT is like the 8600GT with double the stream processors from 32 to 64. The 8800GT, however, has a 112 stream processors giving it an edge over the 9600GT.

  2. The 8800GT Superclocked is your best choice. I have one in an HP with stock cooling, and it runs perfectly. My card is right below my PSU, and all the hot air coming off the card gets sucked up by the big fan on the bottom of my PSU.
